Seventeen times in his letter to the Philippians, Paul uses the word “joy” or “rejoice” to describe both the current state of his heart and his hope for his readers. He then urges them to live lives of joy regardless of their present circumstances (even when their team loses terribly in a bowl game).
Philippians is such a challenge to my attitude and as I have studied it in preparation for launching this new series at Riverview, I have been struck by how my joy is way too often linked to my circumstances.
I am so stoked to launch into this book at all of our venues this weekend. If you want to get a head start, read through Philippians (it will take you 10-15 minutes tops) or download the study guide.
See you this weekend!
