Party With Jesus

Today’s Text Reading – Mark 14:22-50

The scene in the Upper Room on the night Jesus was betrayed is familiar to many of us–Jesus predicts his betrayal, he shares a meal with his disciples, he institutes the Lord’s Supper.  But there is one sentence in the Gospel account that always makes me smile:

“Truly, I say to you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” – Jesus

Mark 14:25

What a day that will be.  Jesus has been abstaining from wine for 2000 years.  But when he returns, we will get a chance to celebrate with him.  We get to be there the next time Jesus pops the cork.  That day, with our God, we will celebrate the blood of the convenant which was poured out for us.

That’s kinda cool and it makes me smile every time I think of it.
